UA closed Jan. 20 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of Alaska Civil Rights
All University of ½ûÂþÌìÌÃoffices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20 to recognize the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of ½ûÂþÌìÌÃCivil Rights holiday. The day is one of 12 paid holidays for UA employees.
In 1994, the Board of Regents approved the holiday and changed the name to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of ½ûÂþÌìÌÃCivil Rights. This special day celebrates the legacy of Dr. King, ½ûÂþÌìÌÃNative leaders and organizations, and others who have led civil rights initiatives benefiting all Alaskans.
