Jill Faudree receives distinguished teaching award

February 20, 2025

Mathematics faculty, Jill Faudree has been awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award for the Pacific Northwest Section of the Mathematical Association of America.

The Mathematical Association of America is one of the two main national organizations of mathematicians in the US. In 1991 the Mathematical Association of America instituted Awards for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics in order to honor college or university teachers who have been widely recognized as extraordinarily successful and whose teaching effectiveness has been shown to have had influence beyond their own institutions. Each year, every Section of the MAA is invited to select a college or university teacher to be honored with a Section Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics, and the winners of the section awards are eligible for consideration for the national award (the Haimo award).

The Pacific Northwest Section of the Mathematical Association of America includes members of the MAA who reside in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and the Northwest, Nunavut, and Yukon territories.
