Student regent Joey Sweet recognized for exceptional service

Last month, Stephen "Joey" Sweet ended his two-year term as the student member of the University of ½ûÂþÌìÌÃBoard of Regents. The regents recognized his passionate and exceptional service to the board with a resolution of appreciation during the February 28-March 1 meeting.

During his time at the University of ½ûÂþÌìÌÃFairbanks, Helferrich served as associate director of the Geophysical Institute at UAF and project director of the International Arctic Research Center building project.

John Bania, Darroll R. Hargraves join UA Board of Regents

On Thursday, April 18, the ½ûÂþÌìÌÃSenate/House Joint Committee confirmed John Bania and Darroll R. Hargraves as members of University of ½ûÂþÌìÌÃBoard of Regents. Gov. Michael Dunleavy appointed Regent Hargraves on January 3, and Regent Bania on February 1.

Fred Villa earns vocational training award

Associate Vice President for Workforce Programs Fred Villa was recently honored with a statewide award recognizing his tireless and heartfelt efforts to advance career and technical education in Alaska. Commissioner Tamika Ledbetter presented him with the David G. Stone Postsecondary Career and Technical Education Administrator of the Year Award during the ½ûÂþÌìÌÃWorkforce Investment Board in February.
